Product Care Instructions | Keep plants well-watered during the growing season, especially during dry spells. Plants need about 1-2 inches of rain per week during the growing season. Use a rain gauge to check to see if you need to add water. It's best to water with a drip or trickle system that delivers water at low pressure at the soil level. If you water with overhead sprinklers, water early in the day so the foliage has time to dry off before evening, to minimize disease problems. Keep the soil moist but not saturated. |

Brandy Boy is a proprietary hybrid that belongs to the Burpee Company. It is supposed to have all the desirable qualities of the Pink Brandywine, but without that famous 19th century tomato's limitations. Supposedly, Brandy Boy will produce 10x more fruit while also being far more disease resistant.
The problem, though, is that Burpee charges an arm and a leg for a packet of 35 seeds. This offering on Amazon lets you save the shipping cost: which is significant! However, in January and February, the Burpee web page starts offering these seeds on sale for about the same price or maybe a little bit less.
And remember: Seeds are good for about 4 or 5 years. You don't automatically need new seeds every year. Starting 3 years after you buy the seeds, just plant a few more than you did in years 1 and 2, in case the germination rate goes down.
