Because it has more chromosomes, the foliage is a more colorful deep-bronze, and the flowers are a more rich fuchsia pink. This definite improvement came from a tissue culture lab growing R. 'PJM'. When looking at them close together, the new R. 'Northern Starburst' is an obvious winner! In the winter, the dark bronze leaves will contrast nicely to other foliage colors nearby .
